our
mission

Our mission is to uniquely contribute to the internal growth and well-being of black women ages 18 and up, irrespective of their social, economic, sexual, and class attainment. We pride ourselves on the belief that affirming, edifying, and healing with the intention of a productive life will equip black women with the right resources to discover or enhance their full potential.

Be it in leadership, healing, or navigating the societies in which they find themselves to combat health threats, poverty, and behaviors that often hinder living a powerful and productive life.

WHAT WE DO

Black Women's Xchange (BWX) provides camaraderie and guidance, networking opportunities, literacy on multiple topics, and a path to discovering or enhancing leadership capacity.

BWX uniquely employs, recruits, and retains the involvement of Cis-Heterosexual, Same Gender Loving(SGL), Gender Nonconforming, and Bisexual BLACK Women.

What We Do

our
History

Black Women’s Xchange resources are geared to the internal growth and development of black women. There are only a few organizations that provide resources for black women and fewer organizations where black women feel seen or heard. Hence BWX provides a safe space for black women with access to diverse professionals who can meaningfully contribute to the wellness, behavioral, health, and critical thinking of black women, irrespective of class, social, sexual, and economic attainment. We provide tools for increasing self-evaluation, embracing a sense of responsibility, and working towards self-sufficiency and community care.

The founder Dr. Cleo Monago has provided leadership regarding African American health concerns nationally for over two decades, with a highly regarded Critical Thinking and Cultural Affirmation (CTCA) Prevention strategy that has since been replicated nationally and is the only intervention of its kind in the nation. BWX prides itself in hiring professionals that are critically aware of the diverse issues faced by black women. The fact that the BWX leadership reflects the demographics of the communities we serve significantly contributes to our ability to reach the population and offer culturally relevant advocacy and guidance. BWX delivers through outreach, education, social media, forums, and full access to a comprehensive range of educational, social justice, and empowerment programs. BWX has demonstrated success working with multiple partners for over two decades, frequently working in coalition with other groups, and maintaining a solid profile in popular and academic print, visual and electronic media.
